Sandra Sandor, the designer behind Nanushka, is dedicated to creating intuitive and easy-to-wear pieces. With her ultra-cool and summery designs, this Hungarian label is the new rising star of the fashion world.

What is the concept behind Nanushka?
“我为现代人设计衣饰。我们的品牌DNA是建立在这个理念之上的,如果1件衣服设计得很好,它就会被定义为美,。而我们是在直观和功能设计之间建立1个桥梁。我们认为爱好的衣服是不是能成为我们衣柜里的必须品是要看是不是让我们穿上后真正感到舒适。”
"I design for the Modern Human. Our brand DNA is built on the idea, that if a garment is designed to function well, it will by definition be beautiful. The concept is to create a bridge between intuitive and functional design. The clothes that we will keep loving and will become our wardrobe staples are those in which we really feel comfortable as well."

Tell me about yourself?
“我在布达佩斯诞生并长大,我母亲在匈牙利创建了第1家儿童服装公司,在独裁政府垮台之前,我从小就被衣服和着装所包围,这对我来讲1直是1种非常重要的自我表达方式。”我不肯定我想成为1名设计师,直到17岁,我想我是真的很想尝试学习时装设计。这很有趣,由于在匈牙利,没有时尚的历史,也没有很多的时装学校。我想在1个非常相干的地方学习时尚,所以我去了伦敦。我于2005年毕业于伦敦时装学院,2006年我又回到了的布达佩斯。我觉得自己很有抱负,很有动力去首创自己的品牌,而不是像大多数刚毕业的大学生1样,在1个大的公司里实习或工作。我回到家里后便开始制作我的第1个系列。
"I was born and raised in Budapest and my mother founded one of the first children's wear businesses in Hungary, prior to the fall of the iron curtain, I grew up surrounded by clothes and dressing was always a very important form of self-expression for me. I wasn't sure that I wanted to become a designer until the age of 17. Then, I thought that I would really like to try to study fashion design and it was very interesting because you know, in Hungary, there is no history in fashion and there aren't many fashion schools. I wanted to study fashion somewhere where it was very relevant and so I went to London. I graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2005 and soon after that I went back to Budapest where in 2006 Nanushka began. I felt very ambitious and inspired to start my own brand and instead of taking an internship or job at a big designer house like most of the fresh graduates, I returned home and started working on my first collection."

Why did you choose to name it Nanushka?
“这实际上是我的乳名!我名字是Sandra,1般来讲小名应当是Sandy,但是我总是发不好Sandy这个音,会发成Nany,后来我父亲开始叫我Nanushka。”
"It was my childhood nickname! My name is Sandra so the typical nickname is Sandy, but Sandy became Nany because I couldn’t pronounce Sandy and then my father started calling me Nanushka."

Where do you get inspiration from?
“总的来讲,1直想要旅行的状态真正给了我启发。当你在旅行的时候,你会变得乐于接受新鲜事物,持开放的态度,就像孩子那样对1些事物保持新奇,而这个而进程中舒适也10分重要。”
"As a general inspiration, the traveling state of mind really inspires me. When you travel, you're very receptive, very open and almost like a child everything is fresh and new, and comfort becomes essential."
你在设计的时候心情是甚么样的?
What is there on your mood board?
“作为1名设计师,我灵感的主要来源是对和谐的1种寻求,同时将非常遥远的文化背景,如西方与东方的文化融会在1起。包括我旅行时拍摄的的照片,遥远的异国情调,混杂着我生活当下1些相干的小东西和物件。
"My main source of inspiration as a designer is to try to create harmony, while mixing very distant cultural references, like Western with Oriental. Pictures of my travels, far and exotic places are mixed with little things and objects that are current and relevant in my life."

”我认为最好的表达就是我们在布达佩斯全新的旗舰店,“Nanushka Store & Cafe”。店里的环境10分舒适,让所有人感觉在家1样。我们将1些现代设计元素与复古的旧式家具进行了混搭,创造出1种出乎意料的和谐感。我认为这也代表了我的设计理念,混合了不同文化与风格,但又让它们能够统1起来。”
"I think the world of Nanushka is best described with our new flagship store in Budapest, the Nanushka Store & Cafe. We created a space that is very cozy as we want everyo工作服属工资总额lhne to feel at home. We mixed modern elements with vintage furniture and this eclectic mix created an unexpected harmony. I think this is also present in my design, where I mix different cultures and styles and somehow all these elements become one."

"I like to call the Nanushka woman a modern human, who is respectful to the life of others and cultures, cherishing the planet and are deeply confident in her femininity. She also dares to express her style, likes functionality and values spirituality."

“对我来讲 ,时兴是1种绝不费力,不需要太多想法的体现,可以混搭1些设计师的经典单品。还有非常重要的是要有搭配全部衣饰的鞋子。”
"Stylish for me means being effortless without overthinking, to mix and match designer pieces with vintage finds. Also, it’s very important that you have the perfect shoes for the outfit."

“我想我会是20世纪90年代吧,我也喜欢80年代。这都是我还是青少年的时期,我想那是第1个衣服变得宽松,运动服开始流行,取代之前贴身裁剪的年代。固然 ,也是我开始意想到时尚变得没有性别。这10年的伟大的地方在于它的真实性和包容度、哥特、摇滚、R&B、流行音乐都以和谐的方式生活在1起。
"I think it’s the 90’s, but I do love the 80’s as well. It’s the era when I was a teenager and I think it’s the first time when the silhouettes get looser they are not as shapely and tailored as before and sportswear emerges. Also, this is the first time really when fashion becomes kind of genderless. What was great about the decade was it’s authenticity and inclusivity, goth, grunge, R&B, pop all lived next to each other in harmony."

“我的时尚梦想在2月份的时候得以最大气高贵的工作服实现了,当时我在纽约时装周上展出了我第1个系列。那是让我和我的品牌最自豪的时刻。我们走过了这么长的路,在成功后的喜悦是那末使人激动和振奋。当把人们约请到我的世界里来,那样的时刻既美好又温馨。”
"My fashion dream came true in february when I showed my first collection during New York Fashion week. It was the proudest moment for me and for my brand. We came such a long way and it was just a very happy time for all us us as the success was so overwhelming. It was a beautiful and very intimate moment to me inviting people to step into my world."

What are your hopes for next season?
“我们今年已有了很多使人激动的计划了,就像刚才我说的我们已开了1家旗舰店,接下来会在洛杉矶开1家时装店。我们计划扩大新的业务并在新的系列引进1些新颖的设计风格。”
